About Christie

Human beings are complex and unique.  We may face challenges, on our own, that we cannot always see our way through. My experience and interest includes working with children, adolescents, individuals, and families on a variety of different issues. Some of these issues are: depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, LGBTQ and trauma. In these positions I have worked with a diverse group of people, races, religions, sexual orientations, economic levels, and cultures.

I have a special passion for gifted children and adolescents. There are many complexities with being gifted. Children are challenged socially, emotionally, and may cope with mental health issues. It is my goal to provide the guidance, coping skills and resources to the gifted child and their families. I can help your family navigate this fascinating and challenging world.

I am also passionate about addressing issues within multi-cultural families. In 2015, seventeen percent of marriages in the U.S are inter-racial and ten percent of American children are multi-racial, according to the Pew research center. Multi-racial families face their own unique and complex challenges living in today's society. How do you get completely different cultures to work together? How do multi-cultural children form their identities?

I utilize Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Family Systems, but also use different therapeutic interventions based on the client's needs. I also like to believe, real or imaginary, that I have sincere ability to connect with clients through empathy and, a little humor.

Please give me a call to discuss how we can address your challenges and to see if I am the right fit for you. I am currently seeing client’s in person if they have received the Covid vaccine. Otherwise, I am happy to do online Telehealth.
